Calcium Ammonium Nitrate CAN White granular agriculture

Description

Calcium Ammonium Nitrate can be considered as near-neutral in its effect on soil pH – and therefore can be used on soils that have a low pH without lowering further. This also means it is most suitable for using on perennial fruit crops (where soil incorporation of lime is normally difficult to achieve). CAN is a nitrogen fertilizer which contains equal parts of fast acting nitrate-nitrogen and longer lasting ammonium-nitrogen. This ensures a more continuous nitrogen supply to the crop and thus better efficiency of use, and also makes it suitable for unseasonal application during summer or winter.

Introduction

Calcium ammonium nitrate is a new high-efficiency compound fertilizer containing nitrogen and available calcium. It has the characteristics of rapid nitrogen supplementation and can be directly absorbed by plants. This product is a neutral fertilizer and has an improved effect on acidic soil. When applied to the soil, it won’t cause soil compaction, in contrast it can loosen the soil, increase the plant’s resistance to diseases and promote the activity of beneficial microorganisms in the soil. When planting cash crops, flowers, fruits, vegetables and other crops, the fertilizer can prolong the flowering period, promote the normal growth of roots, stems an

d leaves, brighten the color, and increase the sugar content of the fruits.

Application

CAN can be applied in base dressings and side dressings, but the actual rates will depend on the farm type, the region and the season.  It is most beneficial however when split applied (where possible) on a 4 – 6 weekly basis to ensure a continuous nitrogen supply.

Actual spreading rates will vary according to farm type, climate, productivity, soil type and crop type.  Soil testing and fertilizer plans are available to ensure you use the right product at the correct rate.  Call our Customer Centre for information.

Volatilisation of nitrogen from CAN is negligible, therefore the timing of the applications is flexible.

As with most solid fertilizers, can be stored over a season as long as it is kept in a cool, dry, well ventilated area. Store bags in a dry place ensuring they are tightly sealed.

Properties

CAN has less than 0.2% insoluble matter and thus does not cause any problems of clogging nozzles, irrigation lines or emitters.

CAN contains 25.5% of Calcium oxide, equivalent to 18.5% of pure calcium soluble in water.

Free of impurities such as chloride, sodium, perchlorate or heavy metals. It is made of virtually 100 % plant nutrients, therefore it does not contain any element harmful to crops.

It promotes the development of the root system, increase the quality and resistance of the plants to phytopathology agents.

The Nitrate Nitrogen of CAN is promptly absorbed by the plants and it increases the absorption of cations such as Calcium, Magnesium or Potassium.
